Once the Rincon Annex Post Office, this historical landmark has been transformed into one of the city’s foremost dining and shopping centers, with over 1,000,000 SF of office, retail and condominiums. The 1930’s Deco–style post office lobby has been preserved and fresco murals meticulously restored. A soaring skylit atrium, surrounded by over 30 of the City’s finest shops and restaurants, has at its focal point a dramatic 90–foot continuously cascading water column. Tony Traub was responsible for the entire development, and negotiated long–term leases with a number of tenants, two of which were Federal Government agencies – the U.S. Post Office and the U.S. District Courts, which occupy the 9th District Federal Court Of Appeals. City architectural and art preservation regulations and approvals were followed at all stages. The City and the major tenants maintained a major role throughout the development process to make sure that their functional space and design needs were fulfilled.
